About our working areas
FLICT’s work is divided into policy work on the national level as well as into the support of inclusive decision making processes and community empowerment in Ampara, Badulla, Galle and Puttalam as the four piloting districts in order to gather first in depth experiences in the implementation of social integration to feed them back into the nationwide process.
Policy development: Social integration has to be a country wide and policy based process. Therefore we support the Ministry of National Languages and Social Integration in the formulation of a social integration policy, including stakeholders from the state and civil society into the process from all over the country. This will follow up with a plan for implementation of Social Integration. Read more
Decision making processes: Government institutions, schools and other social institutions take decisions which have a range of impacts on our lives. When taking such decisions, it is vital that the actual needs of the society are addressed and the voices of the societies are heard. Read more
Community empowerment: FLCIT supports to strengthen the capacity of marginalized communities who have fewer opportunities to express their needs and opinions for enhancing social situation within their societies and create opportunities for dialogue with communities and Local government institutions.
