Towards Diversity, Equality and Democracy in a Pluralistic Society

 

Through Facilitating collaboration between State, Civil Society and the Private Sector, FLICT works at all tiers of society to put in to practice, initiatives contributing towards a socially integrated, harmonious Sri Lanka where diversity, equality  and democracy is promoted.

FLICT is a bilateral cooperation programme between Sri Lanka and Germany. The programme is implemented by Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH on behalf of German Federal Ministry for Economic cooperation and Development (BMZ) in collaboration with its Sri Lankan counterpart, the Ministry of National Co-existence, Dialogue and Official Languages.

Our Commitments and Values

FLICT is committed to work towards a peaceful Sri Lanka in which the rights of all groups and communities are safeguarded within a peaceful and non-violent environment. Through facilitating collaboration between State, Civil Society and the Private Sector we aim to strengthen all tiers of society to be actively engaged in strengthening democratic pluralistic values and celebrating diversity to achieve a lasting peace.

Our work is guided by the principles of sustainability. Our holistic approach and our interactions with partners are guided by the following concepts:

  • The Rule of Law

  • A Social and Ecological Market Economy

  • Good Governance

  • Partner Ownership

In particular, we:

Advocate respect for human rights, equal opportunities and integrity;

Support the rule of law and civic participation while being committed to ensuring fair negotiation processes

Promote a market-oriented, ecological and social economic order and observe the principles of corporate responsibility in our work.

FLICT's Background

Since its inception in 2002 FLICT has worked with over 250 organizations, groups, associations, throughout the country. FLICT has continuously adapted its approach in-line with the changing national and local framework conditions.

FLICT is presently in its fourth phase, mandated until 2017.
